Activity of the Moscow Sport Club
The “Moscow Sport Club” is a regional public organization which was founded in 1997 under the aegis of the government of Moscow. The goals of the Club are popularization of sport, propaganda of the healthy life style, aid in organization of leisure and holidays. It is no coincidence that exactly the Moscow Sport Club became organizer of the greatest international equestrian contests, among them the “Mayor’s Cup” in dressage and show jumping and the “President’s Cup” in dressage.
Today the “Moscow Sport Club” has proved to possess a well-coordinated professional team able to organize and conduct on a high level any great cultural and sport events: though it were an international tournament or a festival, an exhibition or a feast. The main direction in the sport activity of the Club remains elegant and refined equestrian sport, as well as golf which becomes more and more popular in our country.
The Club proceeds its active participation in cultural and sport city programs constantly collaborating with the Administration and the Government of Moscow. Today the “Moscow Sport Club” became permanent organizer of the “Mayor’s Cup” in equestrian sport, which is a part of the “Golden Mayor’s series” – the list of the most important sport contests of the capital. For the first time the tournament took place in 1998 and since then its popularity increases constantly, stimulating interest of the international equestrian-sport society.
Besides the Club conducts the traditional annual tennis tournament “Leather Cap”, which is both a sport contest and a bright show giving representatives of power, culture and business an opportunity to demonstrate to all people the necessity of sport.
The “Moscow Sport Club” aims to popularize culture and esthetic of old cars, collecting of which is getting increasingly popular in Russia.
In 2002 the Club conducted the Moscow festival “Retro-Style” for the first time. This festival gathered more than thirty collectors of old cars and more than ten thousand spectators – fans of old machinery. Such a success convinced the organizers of the necessity for this festival to be held annually. Last year the 3d “Retro-Style” counted about 70 old cars, which caused sincere interest of the public.
The activity of the “Moscow Sport Club” is a vivid evidence of its openness for creativity, for the search of new ideas. The Club looks forward to cooperation and is ready to consider any proposals on organizing events.
